Case Study: AeroCatch Product Launch
AeroCatch® is the brainchild of Peter Boote, MD of Specialty Fasteners & Components, a specialist fastening solutions company. It is a shear pin latch, designed as a replacement for the age-old motorsport sliding pin bonnet catch. It is safer, more aerodynamic, more robust and easier to use. Launched in 2005, its ultimate aim was to become the panel fastener of choice throughout motorsport and beyond.
The strapline “The panel fastener for the 21st Century” was developed at launch and promoted through a mixed media campaign, spearheaded by PR. This was in turn supported by advertising, product brochures, website and attendance at motorsport shows in UK, Europe and USA.
Since launch, the product and its V2 and V3 variants have found global use in most forms of motorsport and by many major race teams. It is also used in marine, military and industrial applications, where previously there were only traditional latch or bolt fastenings.
